Judy Tobey
Judy
Tobey holds a Certificate in College Counseling from UCLA, a Bachelor of Arts
Degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Master of Social Work Degree
from Tulane University, which she attended on a full NIMH grant in the field of
School Social Work. After graduating,
she practiced individual and family counseling in hospital and non-profit
settings, including Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. She is a native of Dallas and has lived in
Fort Worth for twenty-seven years.
Judy retired from social work to raise her
children. During that time she was active for many years in the Friends of the
Fort Worth Public Library serving as both President of the organization and as
Chairman of the Friends of the Library–Fort Worth Star Telegram Book and Author
Luncheons. She was also an active
volunteer in Fort Worth public and private schools including founding and
organizing the annual Fort Worth Country Day School Book Fair.
Her interest in the field of college consulting
developed while helping her own teenagers apply to and attend the schools of
their choice – Harvard College, Yale Law School, the University of Pennsylvania
School of Medicine, and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical
School. Having seen the rigors of the
admissions process firsthand, she views this not just from the professional
perspective, but also as a mother who has helped her own children through the
process with draft after draft of admission essays, resumes, and
interviews. Judy is a member of The Higher
Education Consultants Association, The National Association for College
Admission Counseling, and The Texas Association for College Admissions
Counseling.
Bright
Futures College Consulting offers Judy the opportunity to combine her
interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and knowledge into a field in
which she can help young people find their niche and plan for their future.
